The Longest Day

Today was probably Karen’s toughest day. They took her off the IV pain meds because of hallucinations and muscle spasms. Those are gone now and she is more aware of what’s going on. That’s a good thing but it also has a down side. Karen is fighting discouragement. Her leg is quite swollen (more than she anticipated) and she couldn’t keep anything down today. I stayed extra long and prayed with her before leaving to go back to the hotel room and it seemed she might sleep well. Thank you for your continuing prayers.

Karen..I am sorry that you had a rough day. They always say that the third day after surgery is the worst. So now thats over and day four is approaching! We will be praying that you will have a better day thursday and that God will relieve the swelling and nausea. Try to hang in there and keep your eyes on the one who has brought you this far. He will see you through the rest of the way. God loves you very much. We do too! Thankyou Ken for taking the time to update us so we know how to pray. You are both in Gods loving hands and in our prayers, Love Bob & Cheryl

Karen,

The very first email that popped into my inbox this morning had this Subject Heading in bold letters: "Despair Not". Now I know that ESPN, while spewing forth emails regarding its fantasy football league, had no knowledge of your suffering and start of recovery under God's expert care, its bold, chosen subject headline was certainly an attention-grabber.

It's so much easier said than done though, and I've been praying today for the Lord to deliver you from the disturbing side-effects of the narcotics, and carry you over this post-surgery hump. Love you!

Love you both. Everyone will be praying for you at Bible study tonight at Anita's place(6:30PST). Hurry home to WA & remember God owns your situation (you mailed it to him, like Pastor Wes said in his sermon) & He'll handle it as He sees fit & when. Just know we're praying for you - patience is so hard sometimes. May the swelling go down & the pain subside. Love, Judy

We trust the worst is over now, and Karen WILL be going for a walk soon (and not just in her dreams)! Our prayers are with you. Thanks for the excellent updates.

Karen,

I am glad that the worst is over and am sorry that you had to go through such a rough time. I agree that the 3rd day is the worst, and you hopefully will begin the healing process. My thoughts and prayers again are with you, Ken, and your family. I have enjoyed his taking over your blog while you were unable to do so. His humor showed through but I know how diffucult this is on him and you all.

Please get well and I'll see you both soon.

Much Love,

Loanne
